About Wellstone
Wellstone was founded by Sarah Stone (Cert, FdA, BA Hons Integrative Counselling), a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
The practice was created to provide professional, warm, and collaborative therapy in a safe and supportive environment. Drawing on years of experience co-founding, directing, and running a busy counselling service in Exeter (Kairos Counselling and Psychotherapy) and supporting a diverse range of clients, Sarah’s approach is grounded in the power of the therapeutic relationship and tailored to each person’s needs.

About Me
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As such, I work within a professional ethical framework and engage in ongoing supervision and continual professional development.
My Qualifications and Experience
My training extends beyond the standard diploma level. I hold a Counselling Certificate, a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling, and a BA (Hons) First Class in Integrative Counselling, where I was awarded three academic scholarships in recognition of academic achievement. This breadth of training enables me to bring a flexible, evidence-based approach to my clinical work.
In 2017, I co-founded and directed Kairos Counselling and Psychotherapy, a busy city-centre practice in Exeter, where I supported a diverse range of clients. I ran the service successfully until 2021, when I took a break to have my twin daughters. I also founded the Totnes group for the Westcountry Association for Counselling (WAC), and currently serve as its Group Coordinator and as a member of the WAC Committee.
How I Work
The therapeutic relationship has a significant impact on the outcome of therapy. For therapy to be effective, I believe it should feel genuine, collaborative, and safe. My aim is to create a warm and professional environment that supports us in working together towards the outcomes you hope to achieve.
Who I Work With
Building on this approach, I have a particular interest in the power of relationships and continue to develop my practice through ongoing training in this area.
As such, in addition to working with individuals, I am welcoming enquiries from adults experiencing relationship difficulties.
As a triplet myself and a mother of twins, I particularly welcome enquiries from parents of multiples.
Drawing on both personal understanding and clinical experience of disability and chronic illness, I also support clients navigating the emotional impact of long-term health conditions, including long COVID.
I am currently undertaking Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 clinical training, deepening my specialist work with couples and relationship dynamics. I am also completing Advanced Specialist Level 5 training in Counselling Children and Young People, due to be completed in Spring 2027.
As a result of this ongoing development, Wellstone Therapy will be expanding to offer Couples and Relationship Counselling from Autumn 2026, and Counselling for Children and Young People aged 9–17 from Spring 2027.
Taking the first step can often feel difficult. If you would like to find out more about counselling, discuss your needs, or arrange an initial consultation, please get in touch. I will be happy to answer any questions and help you decide whether Wellstone Therapy is the right fit for you.
